Real Estate Forum of the GermanHellenic Chamber of Industry and Commerce
On 11 June 2026, the first Real Estate Forum of the GermanHellenic Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Thessaloniki. The forum, which attracted significant interest both in Greece and online from Germany, confirmed the growing importance of Greece as an investment destination for real estate. In addition to representatives from real estate development and financing, institutional investors and renowned real estate brokers also participated.
The forum focused on three core thematic areas: residential and commercial properties, tourism and healthcare real estate, and financing models for large scale projects. The speakers emphasized that Greece is currently in a phase of stable growth, supported by ongoing digitalization, improved permitting procedures, and a clear professionalization of the construction and real estate sectors. They also highlighted the increasing internationalization of the market as well as its positive momentum and strong potential. Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that investors today pay much closer attention to longterm predictability, ESG compliance, and integrated project structures. Certified real estate assets were additionally highlighted as excellent investment opportunities across the country.
Alexandros Mavvidis, Managing Director of Mavvidis + Partner, moderated the first panel titled “Residential, Commercial and Luxury Real Estate – Developments and Investment Opportunities in the Greek Real Estate Market.” The speakers presented various segments of the real estate market in detail, reporting on prices, demand, and emerging trends. They also discussed the structural changes within the market and the opportunities arising from increasing international demand. The panel concluded with an overview of the sectors showing particularly strong potential.

A notable contribution came from Alexandros Mavvidis, who highlighted Thessaloniki’s role as “Greece’s second development hub.” He emphasized that the region will significantly benefit in the coming years from major infrastructure projects such as the metro, port modernization, and logistics developments. It was stressed that high quality residential and hotel projects in Northern Greece are increasingly attracting international buyers — including from Germany, Israel, and Southeast Europe. At the same time was pointed out the clear shortage of premium quality real estate in the region.
The forum concluded with clear messages: The Greek real estate market is a mature market and offers substantial potential, and international investors — particularly from German speaking countries — should not miss the excellent opportunity to analyze the Greek market at this moment. Furthermore, Thessaloniki represents a strategic hub for GermanGreek real estate cooperation, and the coming years will be decisive in fully unlocking this potential.
